ABOUT
The 2nd Conference on Bangladesh Energy Prosperity (BEP) 2050 stands as a flagship event dedicated to the discourse surrounding Bangladesh's energy and power sector. This gathering serves as a pivotal platform for fostering open dialogues among diverse stakeholders vested in the nation's energy and power domain. To safeguard national security and economic sovereignty, Bangladesh requires meticulously crafted energy plans and policies aligning with achieving 40% renewable energy by 2041. This imperative necessitates departing strategies that surreptitiously amplify fossil fuel utilization and foreign dependencies.
Rather than spending foreign currency and importing new technologies and fuels like ammonia and liquid hydrogen, Bangladesh would be better off investing in industries that produce equipment related to renewable energy, such as solar panels, inverters, and wind turbines. In this context, the 2nd Conference on Bangladesh Energy Prosperity 2050 will create space for dialogue between policymakers, public agencies, energy experts, infrastructure developers, renewable energy promoters, financial institutions, academia, civil society, youths, local communities, and students to discuss a green, clean and sustainable energy pathway for Bangladesh that seriously addresses the global climate crisis, while enhancing economic stability, regional cooperation and integration, while maintaining national security in line with the international commitments and national development plans.
VISION
To create an open space for multi-stakeholder dialogue that will obtain Bangladesh’s maximum energy prosperity through harmonized national policies, affordable energy mix, financial and institutional arrangements, regional and global cooperation, and climate-responsive development.
MISSION
The goal is to create an open space for both state and non-state actors to share their expertise, ideas, and recommendations regarding long-term plans and policies for the climate, energy, and power sectors. This effort seeks to provide a platform that amplifies the diverse voices advocating for climate resilience through enhanced energy security and sovereignty. Additionally, there will be exploration of pathways for a just, green, and equitable transition while working towards the development of a position paper focused on sustainable development in Bangladesh.
